Cripta del Peccato originale – magnificently frescoed cave (re) brought to light in 1963, called the Cappella Sistina  of rock wall painting. The extraordinary painting complex of the Benedictine – Benevento school (8th – 9th centuries) that decorates the walls of the crypt is undoubtedly one of the most important examples of early medieval painting in the Mediterranean area.
